Richie Sexson

Richie Sexson is a one-dimensional power hitter who makes $15 million dollars a year to occasionally grow a wicked bad mullet. This photo of Sexson served as the retroactive emblem for the 2007 tailspin.

The Mariners' First Baseman from 2005 through half of 2008, Sexson is very tall (at 6'8" the tallest position player in the history of the MLB) which gives him good range on the bag - a benefit when receiving throws from the chaotic neutral arm of Yuniesky Betancourt. However, Sexson is an abysmal fielder who can really only catch a ball off the bat if it is fired directly at his man-pouch.

Richie Sexson has had a stupendously poor 2007 campaign, struggling to stay above the Mendoza Line throughout. Mariners fans lustily booed Sexson during his particularly poor July. This hurt the big bastard's feelings. Poor guy.

Sexon was released by the Mariners on July 10th, 2008 and signed to the New York Yankees a week later. He is now a free agent.

An actor that sorta somewhat looked like Richie Sexson (pic below) appeared in the cold opening for House M.D. (episode 32something, "The Jerk") getting his face smashed in after losing a chess match. We sometimes make reference to this.

Richie is also quite athletic for a big guy as evidenced by this clip:
