Geoff Baker is a journalist and blogger for the Seattle Times.
Baker and LL/USSM have a love/hate relationship. While he is a brilliant beat-reporter (far better than the man he replaced), Geoff loves to play armchair GM. Among his more head-scratching things seen in his blog:
- Trading Jeff Clement/Adam Jones/Anyone with talent for Octavio Dotel.
- Praising Carlos Silva/Miguel Batista/Jarrod Washburn for pitching (awfully) through pain while condemning Erik Bedard for taking care of his body.
- Applauding Carlos Silva for being an ass to his teammates while chastising Ichiro! and Adrian Beltre for not threatening to throw teammates under a bus.
- Taking shots at Ichiro in 95% of his entries
- Discussion of his MLB 2k8 Mariners team on his Xbox 360
Geoff also co-wrote a rather infamous article calling the Toronto Blue Jays the "whitest team in baseball" while working for the Toronto Star. Despite some confusing stances Geoff has taken, there's no denying he's perhaps the only reporter in the Seattle area who can legitimately claim isn't part of Chuck Armstrong and Howard Lincoln's PR machine.
Geoff is also Canadian. lol.
Geoff's comments section is a continual source of amusement for Lookout Landing members who enjoy trainwrecks. He apparently reads the game threads at Lookout Landing. Hi Geoff.
